Every year, about 30% of energy consumed in commercial buildings is wasted according to EnergyStar.gov and about 19% of all energy used is for lighting alone. If you are paying sky high electric bills here are some options to reduce your costs. Thankfully, we can help you with some cost effective lighting options.
Reduce Energy Consumption
- Install motion sensors or occupancy sensors in low to no traffic areas.
- Integrate lighting controls in your work place.
- Replace your exit signs with LED exit signs. According to EnergyStar, this will save you $10 per sign per year.
- Replace incandescent and CFL bulbs with LED light bulbs in your floor and desk lamps.
- Retrofit or upgrade fixtures to house LED lights.
- Upgrade outdoor pole and parking lot lighting to LED.
- Make the best use of natural light.

Cost Effective Lighting
LED is the clear winner in the chart. CFL comes in 2nd and incandescent is the outdated energy hog. While compact florescent lamps may be energy efficient, they contain mercury which means they need to to be handled with care and disposed of properly. LEDs are durable, power up quickly, aren’t effected by cycling on and off quickly and give off little heat.
